Hi! I’m Dr. Anahise Shoukas
It all started when…
I got headaches as a child and explored yoga postures (not knowing I was doing yoga) to help alleviate them. This was the start to my path of healing naturally without the use of medications.
As I practiced karate, kung fu, chi gong, and yoga in my early adult years, I explored the eastern side of medicine. As a little kid growing up, I would play in my father’s biomedical and cardiac research lab, and later work for him doing surgeries for his research. And so the blending of pearls from both western and eastern medicine for healing the body formed.
My own martial arts injuries and a multitude of car accidents have taught me how I like to be treated as a patient and an incredible journey learning about the body, creating a deep understanding of what techniques are effective. As a patient, I understand the desire and determination it takes to return to the things one loves. As your therapist, I understand that injuries can change us in our ever impermanent life, and sometimes we need a little help from our friends.
But for those just interested in my credentials, I went for the highest level of education with my Doctorate in Physical Therapy, trained in Kineticore Dry Needling, 200 hour yoga certification, FMS, and a multitude of continuing education courses for osteopathic mobilization, manipulation of joints, therapeutic yoga, neuromuscular re-education, mantra meditation, and more.
Prajna means wisdom or insight in Sanskrit. When we can slow down enough to come into our bodies and be present with the NOW, we can start to see which patterns serve us and which we can let go of, physically and mentally- leading us to our higher Self.
